Please include instructions for how to apply.: Smithsonian Channel seeks an Archives Technician to join the Library & Archives team for an 11-month contract. Archives Technician will be tasked with helping to clear a processing backlog and provide assistance to the Library & Archives team during a large LTO tape migration.

· Organize and describe digital video collections, including camera raw assets, stock masters, program masters, and production elements, following Smithsonian Channel’s internal processing policies and guidelines
· Fulfill asset requests from internal customers, locating files on shared storage or in the LTO tape archive
· Create and QC access files for video masters
· Record, update, and conform descriptive and technical metadata using spreadsheets and a Collective Access database
· Assist with research requests from production teams, conducting footage searches in internal and/or external databases
· Assist with department administrative needs
· Prepare and pack LTO and videotape for transfer to corporate records center

Required Qualifications
· Experience with digital video, audio, and/or photographs in an archives, museum, or production setting
· Fluent and comfortable in Mac OS environment
· Highly organized and attentive to detail
· Deliver high quality of work
· Possess initiative, flexibility, and a problem-solving mindset

Preferred Qualifications
· Degree or studies in audiovisual archives, library or information science, or museum studies
