Submit a Job

Before you submit, please use the search box on upper right of the Archives Gig homepage to see if the opening is already posted. I post very regularly and pull from a lot of different sources, so even if you think I couldn’t possibly have it up yet – please check first!

Do not email a PDF or document attachment of the job description; use the form below to submit a job.

I generally post positions that are sent to me within one business day, but occasionally they’ll be a little later than that depending on my schedule. I do not update Archives Gig if I am away; I announce extended absences on the main page. The contact name and email fields on the form below are not published in the posting – they are there in case I need to contact you with any questions about the posting you submitted.

Archives Gig lists positions that significantly focus on: archives, special collections, digital asset management, preservation/conservation (A/V, moving image, paper, books, and photographs – ie, not historic building preservation or museum object conservation), records management, archival media and related. If it is not clear from the position description that a job meets this focus requirement, I will follow up with you for clarification.

In the interest of avoiding redundancy, I don’t post the same opening more than once unless the search has been extended or if there have been significant changes to the original posting. If that is the case with an opening you send, please make a note in the job description field about what has changed.

The full text of the job description/advertisement must be included in either the link to the job posting you provide, or in the job description box if a link is not available. There are no word limits in the “job description” field. No recruiter links are accepted; links must refer directly to the employer’s website or a public job board, unless the position is strictly being hired through a recruitment firm.

I will try to be as responsive as possible if I get a request to note that a position is filled. However, sometimes I get requests while I am on vacation or otherwise unable to help immediately. To avoid this, please consider linking to a position that is posted on a website that is under your institutional control, and also specifying an application deadline on the form below.

Salary information is highly encouraged, but not required.

Want to know what a posting looks like after you submit? Here’s an example.
