Position Summary
This is a 21-month grant funded position within the University at Buffalo Libraries.
Under the supervision of the Poetry Collection’s Processing Archivist and the Associate Curator, the Project Archivist will catalog and make accessible through online EAD finding aids the unprocessed editorial and business records (273 linear feet) contained in the archives of eleven diverse poetry magazines. These archives represent different socio-aesthetic communities of national significance from feminist to academic avant-garde to verbo-visual poetry, and are composed of literary letters, manuscripts, notebooks, business and production records, and publishing ephemera.
The Project Archivist will arrange and describe the manuscript collections according to standard archival practices for DACS, including surveying the collections in order to establish a proposed arrangement; identify media and determine preservation measures; physically reorganize the collection in accordance with the arrangement plan; supervise students; create finding aids and MARC records.

Minimum Qualifications
– MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
– At least one year of experience processing archival collections, preferably in a special collections repository, academic library, or museum.
– Experience writing DACS-compliant finding aids.
– Experience with EAD, including its authoring tools (such as XMetal, Oxygen, or Archivists’ Toolkit).
– Experience with archival preservation.
– Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
– Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a collegial environment.
– Must be able to bend, lift, and carry materials up to 40 lbs. and climb ladders and step stools to remove and replace boxes on shelves.
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with cataloging and preserving photographs and artwork.
Salary Range: $47,000 per year
