Position Title: Archival Assistant – AHA Temp

Position Summary:
The Atlanta Housing Authority Archival Assistant assists the Archivist in arranging and describing collections of significant historical value to the Atlanta Housing Authority; creating archival finding aids, and promoting and making accessible historical materials to AHA staff and members through a variety of outreach endeavors. The Archival Assistant assists in processing collections according to archival best practices and applying metadata standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Select, process, arrange, maintain, and preserve archival collections. Make recommendations for disposition of certain materials.
· Create finding aids to archival collections using Archivist’s Toolkit
· Assist in identifying collections appropriate for digitization, exhibits, and further outreach
endeavors.
· Research, draft, and recommend revisions to archival policies and other documents.
· Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned.​

Education and Experience:
Accredited graduate degree in an appropriate discipline (Master Degree in Library Science, History, or related experience required) with concentration or training in archival studies.
· At least 3 years of processing experience preferred.
· Experience in a corporate or business environment highly desirable.

​Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
· Knowledge of best practices of emerging metadata standards and tools, ensuring
productive and efficient processes.
· Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Must be extremely detail oriented and enjoy working in an environment which requires
focus and concentration.

Working Conditions:
Generally works in office environment. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work in a deadline-focused and fast-paced environment. May be required to have valid State of Georgia driver’s license and be fully insurable for the purpose of obtaining clearance on company “Authorized Driver’s List.” Occasional overtime as required to meet workload demands. Ability to lift 10-20 lbs.
