Essential Functions
Carries out Gaylord’s digital projects. Supervises pre-circulation marking and housing of print materials and oversees commercial binding. Performs copy and adaptive cataloging according to the procedures and policies set by the Music Cataloger. Manages movement and check-in of outsourced cataloging. Manages receipt and retention of the library’s subscription titles. Reports to the Music Cataloger.

Serve as Digital Projects Assistant. In collaboration with Digital Library Services, train for and coordinate the student scanning work in Gaylord Special Collections. Oversee Gaylord’s additions to the WU Digital Library and national initiatives such as the Internet Archive, IMSLP, and the Sheet Music Consortium.
Be responsible for all print-based processing activities in Gaylord. Train and oversee student assistants to mark and house materials; maintain policies and procedures in an up-to-date manual. Work with Preservation Unit for housing and care of materials requiring special treatment. Prepare and send materials being commercially bound.
Perform adaptive cataloging according to AACR2rev, RDA, OCLC, and LC standards for books, including related authority work for music headings. Process added copies. Assist in training, supervising, and advising Student Assistants involved in technical-services functions.
Manage packing, mailing, and check-in of outsourced cataloging materials
Manage and monitor subscription activities and maintain check-in, processing, and binding routines for all music subscription titles.
Assist with public-service activities of the branch such as user assistance, mounting exhibits, and desk coverage.
Maintain a high level of performance and commitment to improvement through continued education and training.

Required Qualifications

Some college or equivalent experience required
Basic computer literacy (including ability to keyboard accurately at 35 wpm or faster)
Ability to make independent judgments and to organize work.
Ability to work effectively with library users and staff.
High level of accuracy in working with details.
Maturity, dependability, and ability to work under pressure and meet production goals.
Flexibility and adaptability to various work routines and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music, or art-related field
Research skills and broad knowledge of music history and repertoire through training or coursework.
Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office software.
HTML skills and Web page design experience.
Scanning experience and/or experience with applications such as Adobe Photoshop.
Experience with and knowledge of processing and repair of library materials.
Library science courses and/or library experience, preferably in a technical services environment.
Experience with library computer applications such as OCLC Connexion or integrated library systems.
Working knowledge of at least one Western European language, preferably German or French.
