DIVISION DIRECTOR
The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) in the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of the Division of Archives and Records Management who will serve as State Archivist and Records Administrator and State Historical Records Coordinator. This position provides statewide leadership in archival services and records management and oversight and direction to five branches within the division: State Records, Local Records, Electronic Records Management, Archival Services, and Micrographics and Imaging. The Director will work with legislators and state and local officials on public records management issues; develop partnerships that enhance archives and records management programs; provide direction for Kentucky government archives and records management; manage the governance structure for the Commonwealth’s records retention and scheduling process; participate in Kentucky government initiatives related to management, retention, and use of government information; serve as Kentucky’s representative to the Council of State Archivists; participate in strategic planning and budget processes; lead public outreach and access efforts to ensure awareness of Kentucky government records, records laws, and research opportunities; and promote government recordkeeping, digital preservation, research, and resource sharing through information technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience and professional leadership in an archival and records management program;
- Knowledge of latest developments, best practices, standards, regulations, and laws in archives and records management, open records and information governance;
- Participation in state, regional, and national archival and records management associations, including committee memberships and presentation of papers or sessions at professional meetings;
- Ability to communicate and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of awareness of the work of the Division.
- Master’s Degree or above in Archival Studies, Library and Information Science, Public Administration, History, or Political Science.
Pay Grade/Salary Range: 19 / $56,756.88 – $75,190.08 annual plus a full benefits package
