DIGITAL CONTENT COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY
The Digital Content Coordinator will be responsible for the Arizona Memory Project and Reading Arizona. This position will work with cultural organizations, government institutions, universities, publishers, and other branches in the State Library to identify, acquire, digitize and provide access to unique Arizona content through digital platforms.

This position will be attuned to the growing significance and impact of e-content, be responsible for identifying the end user’s needs and how to meet them in the future. The Digital Content Coordinator will coordinate the online collection policies, identify and procure content in multiple digital formats, and recommend technical strategies. The Digital Content Coordinator will monitor and keep abreast of digital trends and opportunities, and help the State Library to position itself to work with this content. This position reports to Laura Stone, Digital Arizona Library Administrator.

This is a full time position consisting of 40 hours per week. Some travel and outreach activities will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with publishers, universities, libraries, museums, historical societies, tribal nations, vendors, and other organization to identify and solicit material.
Coordinate with internal partners, on relevant holdings; the State Library of Arizona on AMP collections, the Arizona Capitol Museum on exhibits, education and outreach; the Library Development division on outreach and education; the Preservation Imaging division on microfilm evaluation, the scanning of microfilm and the transfer of scanned, raw images of news content; the Information Technology department on monitoring technical issues.
Educate and update libraries and archives around the state about Arizona Memory Project, Digital Content, E-book content collection, trends, standards and guidelines; Develop public relations materials and give outreach presentations to raise awareness about digital content.
Represent the Department at individual libraries, as well as state and national meetings and conferences.
Oversee and disseminate digital content usage studies of metrics.
Perform quality assurance duties to ensure metadata and online curation are accurate.
Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Degree in History with coursework or internships in archives, Degree in Library and Information Science with coursework or internships in archives or library or an equivalent combination of a relevant degree and experience.
Experience with digital formats, techniques, and equipment, as well as knowledge of standards for digital objects and metadata.
Demonstrated project management skills, including strong analytical skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse groups of people, including both technical and non-technical staff
Familiarity with cultural institutions, publishers and authors throughout the state
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to travel throughout the state and nation.
