Associate Archivist

The Associate Archivist is responsible for assisting with the processing and curation of Cranbrook’s archival and manuscript holdings, answering reference inquiries, aiding researchers, processing reproduction requests, and assisting with the development of programs that govern the systematic control of Cranbrook records, including electronic records. The associate archivist should have an interest in the history of Cranbrook and a desire to share Cranbrook’s story with constituents near and far. Requirements: Master’s degree in Library or Information Science (or equivalent degree) with a specialization in Archival Administration or Electronic Records Management required; candidates must have a thorough knowledge of archival practices and methodology. Two years of professional archival experience required, with paid experience preferred.  Knowledge of database management (CONTENTdm preferred) and experience with MARC descriptive and cataloging standards required. Experience with website maintenance, electronic records (both digital surrogates and born digital) management preferred. Experience with management of architectural drawings and records highly desirable. Interest or background in art and/or architecture strongly desired.  A valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record is required. This is a part-time position with a schedule of working 24 hours per week.
