Please include instructions for how to apply.: Summary: The Khalaf Al Habtoor Archives at Illinois College seeks a graduate-level intern for the fall 2016 semester (mid-August – mid-December 2016, flexible start and end dates). The position includes a generous stipend as well as furnished, on-campus housing.

Eligibility: Graduate or recently graduated students from MA or MLIS programs in history, public history, archival studies, historical administration, library sciences, and related disciplines are eligible to apply. Students interested in a career in archives, records management, public history, and museums are especially encouraged. Details: Interns may select from a variety of projects that emphasize their interests, strengths, and professional goals. A few examples include:
– Processing the papers of Congressman Paul Findley (1921-present), approximately 60 linear feet, including family records, correspondence, Congressional records, photographs, audio-visual materials, and artifacts.
– Processing the correspondence of IC President Charles Rammelkamp (1905-1932), approximately 15 linear feet, including correspondence with dignitaries, covers the college’s involvement in the First World War, and ICs Centennial in 1929.
– Process the records of Sorosis, a local women’s literary society (1869-present), approximately 10 linear feet, that emphasizes women’s activism and education.
– Aid in collection inventories and creating finding aids
– Conduct research on museum artifact and document collections
– Assist in rehousing museum document collections
– Lead an effort to generate digital humanities projects at Illinois College that feature crowdsourcing and interactive features. Assist in digitizing select collections to be made available to the
campus community.

In conjunction with their project, the intern will make a public presentation, create an exhibit, or work closely with an undergraduate class on a specific project. The intern would also gain experience with the day-to-day management of a campus archives including aiding in research requests, managing the reading room, as well as aiding and assisting with related programs and/or activities. The intern may also assist with the management of the Paul Findley Congressional Office Museum.
