Washington, DC: Processing Contractor, National Museum of African American History & Culture, Smithsonian

The National Museum of African American History and Culture may be hiring a contractor to process, arrange and describe an archival collection and to integrate the archival collection information into the museum’s comprehensive collection management system. The contractor would be responsible for the following:

 

  • Fully processing archival collection which includes organizing, arranging, and describing the analog and digital aspects of the collection
  • Confirm the inventory of the physical collection and the digital surrogates
  • Assess and evaluate the box list and complete a detailed container and folder-level survey of material
  • Embed robust metadata into the digital files
  • Create an EAD-compliant finding aid in Archivist’s Toolkit
  • Knowledge in African American and/or performing arts history is preferred but not required
