Viacom is looking for a Metadata / Content Specialist whose primary responsibility is to work with internal and external teams to help control and standardize temporal metadata which will allow the Viacom production community to search and locate needed content by utilizing Viacom’s internal DAM.
Please note that this is a project based position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Monitor and help develop quality and standards in support of improving the search of digital video assets using Viacom’s DAM.
– Monitor QC process upon file ingest in accordance with Viacom’s standards.
– Assess and provide feedback on the quality of metadata received from vendor.
– Modeling data inside the schema to improve search experience (for faceted search and asset attributes).
– Using Viacom mass correction tools to clean up and update keywords and other fields once receipt of metadata by vendors is complete.
– Provide input to develop and implement strategies, standards, and guidelines relating to the creation and improvement of content-related vocabularies and taxonomy.
– Analyze performance of metadata application and usage, including keyword trends as they pertain to footage library.
– Work with team to establish controlled vocabularies and taxonomy inside of digital asset management (DAM)
– Creating collections in Viacom DAM, utilizing reports, imports and export asset lists
– Search and curate and create clips requested by MTV creative groups.
– Log video content for assigned assets including titles, description, keywords and other required metadata fields to optimize search results-on demand.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
– Experience with cataloging and clip selection workflows for video, photographic and other media content for broadcast and multi platform distribution
– Understand how metadata affects the integrity of search queries.
– Familiarity with SEO taxonomies.
– Familiarity with XML format.
– Solid understanding of digital asset management systems, digital media technology and organizational databases.
– Familiarity with a keywords and metadata schemas in the Entertainment production space and possess the ability to communicate rationale of various metadata schemas.
– Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
– Must have excellent writing and analytical skills, show good judgment and be detail oriented.
– Must have excellent interpersonal, follow-through and communication skills (both verbal & written).
– You must be highly adaptable, able to meet deadlines, solve problems independently, follow directions and protocol, and be comfortable using technology.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION/SKILLS
– Understanding of digital ingestion and digital workflows for broadcast.
– Familiarity using Viacom ALIAS.
– Experience in identifying and selecting quality video clips from source content for editing purposes.
– Have an excellent knowledge of history (Pop Culture Centric), and current affairs in news and entertainment.
– College degree is preferred or equivalent work experience is required. (Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Communications or Library Services is strongly desired).
– Good creative instincts.
