Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Archives of La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club seeks applicants for a project-funded, part-time archival position. Under supervision of the Project Director, the Metadata/Digitization Specialist will perform original cataloging, digitize a wide range of cultural objects (including posters, photographs, show programs, and other materials) for preservation and access, and complete other tasks as needed. This is a temporary position in a community-based performing arts archive (approximate end date: January 30, 2017). $15/hour, 20 hours per week. Hours may be somewhat flexible but must be scheduled Monday-Friday between 11am-6:30pm.
Required Qualifications:
-Enrollment in or recent completion of graduate program in library science, public history, or a related field;
-Exceptional communication skills, ability to work both collaboratively and independently;
-Familiarity with archival metadata standards, such as DublinCore, PBCore, PREMIS, and FRBR;
-Familiarity with digital preservation best practices;
-Willingness to learn emerging digital technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with the CollectiveAccess cataloging platform;
-Experience with or interest in theater, dance, and other forms of live performance.
