Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Drexel College of Medicine Legacy Center is offering a paid internship to a current or recently graduated graduate student in library and information science, public history, history, or related field.
The Archives Assistant will work with archives staff on all aspects of repository activities; work may include reference, inventorying and processing, exhibits (online or physical), social media, and scanning and metadata. The usual internship structure is project-based with ancillary tasks taken on as needed. With the Legacy Center’s recent focus on educational outreach, this position may be an opportunity to become involved with this growing aspect of archival work.
The Legacy Center, Archives & Special Collections holds and manages materials reflecting the 165+ year history of Drexel’s medical school and its predecessor institutions, Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. The Legacy Center is located on the Queen Lane campus of the Drexel University College of Medicine in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. Hours and Salary Range
Part-time, temporary position, 200-280 hours averaging 8-15 hours per week. $16 hourly to start (no benefits).
Qualifications: Strong computer skills and ability to attend to detail; interest in history and/or experience with historical materials; ability to work independently and in groups. Enjoys the challenges of problem-solving.
