If you are an experienced processing archivist, looking for a temporary position, we have just the job for you! History Associates is seeking qualified individuals to join our team in completing a processing project for an important client located in Washington, DC. The archivists will work full-time 40 hours per week, with a start date of October 3rd and continuing for approximately three months. Though the position is temporary, HAI is always looking for qualified individuals to meet our ever-changing needs. With new assignments on the horizon, there is the possibility to transition to full-time employment or have your temporary employment extend beyond this project. Job Description:
Working as part of a team and under the supervision of an on-site project lead, the archivist will process a large collection of congressional materials and develop a finding aid. All work will be performed according to a pre-defined processing plan and guidance from the project lead.

Education Requirements:
Master’s degree in library science, history, or related discipline with a concentration in archival studies or archival courses, seminars, internships, or practica.

Job Requirements:
– Minimum one year of experience arranging and describing archival records
– Proven examples of working under strict deadlines
– Understanding of and experience in implementing archival hierarchies
– Demonstrated practical knowledge of archival policies and procedures
– Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgment
– Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others
– Strong writing and verbal communication skills
– Preference for candidates with experience of working with congressional materials
