For more than 100 years, we’ve been making everyday life better every day for our consumers and our employees. We’re looking for a part-time archivist (8 hours a week) to maintain our corporate archive at our headquarters office in downtown Oakland, California. This is a contractor/internship position that reports to the director of Global Corporate Communications.

Key Responsibilities
– Maintain archive policies and procedures for asset accession, research, storage and long-term preservation of collection. Catalog assets in archive management system, including digitization of physical assets using scanner or digital photography.
– Respond to archive inquires and requests including asset retrieval, historical research and fact checking.
– Administer archive management system including users, site hierarchy and content changes. Administer external historical website including regular content updates and user administration.
– Identify and recommend items to retain, purge or acquire to fill gaps.
– Identify, acquire and catalog new assets, as needed.
– Conduct ongoing review of scope of new assets to be housed in the archive.
– As needed, write stories and/or blogs for our employee intranet and company website celebrating the history and anniversaries of our brands.

Skills and Abilities:
– Demonstrated knowledge of the creation and management of electronic records, especially in an archive management system
– Ability to manage workload in a timely, effective manner with minimum supervision
– Excellent written communication skills
– Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others, with a high sensitivity to confidentiality
– Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in professional environment
– Knowledge of archive management systems and metadata standards
– Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and work in temperature-controlled environment
