The Winthrop Group’s Information & Archival Services Division has an immediate opening for a part-time Archives Technician (3-4 days/week) in Long Island, New York. Under the supervision of a Lead Archivist, the Archives Technician will assist in the duties described below. The anticipated start date is in June 2018.

Position Description
Responsibilities include surveying and inventorying a large volume of non-current and archival records, detailed data entry into Excel, and re-housing of unprocessed records.

Required qualifications:
• Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an
MLS/MLIS or MA in History program, with a concentration in
archives
• Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Initiative, professionalism, cooperative attitude and ability to
work independently
• Attention to detail
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with inventorying and cataloging archival records
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel
• Skilled typist

Compensation:
Hourly rate based on experience and level of qualification.
