Please include instructions for how to apply.: Internships in the Special Collections of the Rosenberg Library are designed to introduce aspiring professionals to the full complement of activities in a public library Special Collections department. Students will focus on skills and activities related to managing archives and manuscripts, including verifying contents of collections, making necessary changes to descriptive materials, creating finding aids, digitizing records, and creating indexes. They will become familiar with archival processing tools and standards as well as workflow related to the management of archives. Students may also participate in everyday departmental duties such as reference and assisting the public.

Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled in graduate or undergraduate studies with a focus on archives, museums, history, or library and information science. Recent graduates may also apply.
• Work must be completed during the times that the Galveston and Texas History Center is open, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm.
• Student must be responsible, dependable, and attentive to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Basic computer skills are required.

This internship position is unpaid. We will work with students and faculty on requirements and expectations of for-credit internships.
