Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Please include instructions for how to apply.: Summary: Two graduate student internships available, offering pre-professional experience in creating and editing descriptive metadata and participating in digitization.
Duties: Focusing on documents in PACSCL’s CLIR InHOR project (http://inherownright.org) and working 10 hours a week, the intern will participate in digitization and description of original archival materials. Tasks may include scanning, creating metadata, editing metadata created by others, and quality checking records and image files. In addition, the intern may contribute to social media, and/or support the project team in project organization and communication with participants. The position is based at Temple University, but may include work in other archives within the Philadelphia region.
Requirements: Current enrollment in an ALA accredited library or information science graduate program. Interest in archives and archival techniques, especially digital archives. Preferably, interest in project topics, including activism, abolition, and women’s rights. Ability to demonstrate initiative, work collaboratively and collegially. Effective interpersonal communication skills and dedicated attention to detail. Must reside within commuting distance to Philadelphia and have reliable transportation–no relocation assistance available.
Hours and Pay: 10 hours/week, $15/hour; weekdays (flexible between 8:00 and 5:30). The internship will be a 12-18 month position, dependent on project needs.
