Please include instructions for how to apply.: Job Summary: The Curator of Collections is responsible for the overall management and daily care of the museum collections, to include but not limited to, accessioning, processing, storing, inventory, budgeting, oversight of volunteers, and assisting with exhibition artifact selection, text, and installation.

Required are excellent writing skills, knowledge and experience with all facets of collections care and management, knowledge of PastPerfect museum software, and demonstrated abilities to interpret history through research and writing for the public.

Very important is a personal commitment to excellence and to team work and the fostering of good relations with collections committee members, donors, conservators, staff, and the general public.

Qualifications: Minimum bachelor’s degree in history, public or art history, or museum studies, with experience in collections management.

About the Organization: The Museum of East Tennessee History was established in 1993 as a program of the East Tennessee Historical Society, and is housed in the East Tennessee History Center, Knoxville. The Society has a very active program of lectures, genealogy series, teacher and student education initiatives, special presentations, and an artifact collection of more than 15,000 items.
