The Black Film Center & Archive at Indiana University – Bloomington seeks a Project Archivist for a 3-year grant-funded position to process and digitize the personal papers of Senegalese filmmaker, producer, and historian, Paulin S. Vieyra (1925-1987). Vieyra was an instrumental figure in the development of post-Colonial Senegalese and larger African Cinema. He was one of the founders of FESPACO, FEPACI and other African film organizations, as well as a mentor to Ousmene Sembene and other influential figures from the post-colonial period. The collection contains papers, photographs, audiovisual materials, equipment, memorabilia and other ephemera. The vast majority of the collection is in French and French proficiency is preferred.
