Special Collections Archivist
Part-Time
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon seeks a part-time Special Collections Archivist. The individual will support the work of Special Collections through the accessioning, processing, describing, and housing of manuscripts and other special collection items. The position will be approximately 20 hours a week. This position reports directly to the Technical Services Librarian and to the Curator of Special Collections. Work is onsite, Monday – Friday, between the hours of 9am to 5pm. Estimated pay range is $24-$28 per hour.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains and updates accession and loan files
Documents incoming acquisitions and items under temporary custody
Accessions newly received Special Collections items
Processes, arranges, and describes manuscripts and archival collections following Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS)
Inputs data into ArchivesSpace
Rehouses manuscripts, collections, and other tasks to ensure preservation of materials
Conducts inventories, condition reports, and implements preservation initiatives
Monitors environmental conditions and manages cleaning schedule for storage spaces
Assists with managing conservation and exhibitions workflow for special collections materials
Other related duties as assigned
