Boston College Libraries invites applications for the newly envisioned position of Head Librarian for User Engagement and Burns Library Public Services. Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Research Services and Educational Initiatives, the Head will be responsible for the coordination and management of the full range of the Libraries’ user engagement and public outreach initiatives, including exhibits, events, and social media, with a particular focus on the promotion of the Libraries’ distinctive special collections and archives held in John J. Burns Library.

The Head provides overall leadership and management of Burns Library instructional outreach programming to students and faculty across the disciplines. They will have demonstrated abilities to bring innovative and engaging pedagogical approaches to the interpretation of primary source materials and the definition and assessment of learning outcomes. Additionally, they will oversee staff who manage the reading room, virtual reference, and other research support services in John J. Burns Library. They will ensure that these programs and services are of consistently high quality and contribute to the education and enrichment of the Boston College community and the public at large.
