Oversee the acquisitions, management, curation, and production of digital assets (both the digitization of physical collections and born-digital assets) and content to evaluate and preserve the assets, facilitate access to users as appropriate, and develop and produce digital storytelling for the museum. Evaluates digital collections programs and their visitor and user impact. Processes paper archival collections. Experience with processing archival collections as well as creating metadata for finding aids and digital objects. Experience managing born-digital and digitized collections based upon a strong understanding of FADGI compliant digitization. Experience with metadata standards relevant to the archival management of digital objects (EAD, Dublin Core, MODS, METS, PREMIS). Understanding of rights, permissions, and restrictions related to providing access to digital media. Experience with hardware and software related to digital ingest, processing, access, and storage. Knowledge of current digital exhibition experience platforms. Knowledge of museum best practices in registration methods, collections management, and accessioning. Knowledge of U.S. and Illinois history. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with donors, the public, volunteers, staff and Naperville Heritage Society members is important. Physical ability to lift and move collection objects. Flexibility and ability to meet deadlines is essential.
