Provide relief coverage for the North Carolina Collection, the special collections department of Durham County Library.
Duties include:
Holding shifts at the NCC Information Desk and providing research assistance to customers both in-person and remotely through email, phone, and chat.
Work on collection-based projects. This can include archival processing of manuscript collections, cataloging work with the bibliographic collection, management of digital collections, and digitization of materials.
Participate in promotional activities for the collection including creating digital and physical exhibits, holding instructional sessions with a wide variety of customers, and hosting library programs.
Must be available for a Saturday rotation and for holiday coverage. Position is expected to work at least 20 hours per week.
NOTE: The person selected for this position will be hired for a period not to exceed eleven (11) months. Potential for being re-hired for a new eleven-month contract every year.
