It is the mission of the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. As one of ten state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs.

The Division of Archives and Records Management, Electronic Records Branch is seeking an Archivist II to perform advanced archival work in researching, appraising, arranging, describing, digitizing, cataloging, and preserving permanent public records and archival materials to include highly specialized archiving of complex digital data.

Job duties include:
Accessions, appraises, arranges, describes and preserves historical public records and makes those records available for research.
Analyze electronic records to determine archival value.
Conduct electronic records data conversion, ingest, migration, transfer, and/or other tasks and procedures.
Create and manage metadata to meet current standards and best practices.
Serve as liaison between state and local government agencies and the Electronic Records Management Branch programmatic functions to develop and implement workflows and processes enabling acquisition, description, access, management, and preservation of electronic records transferred to the Kentucky State Digital Archives, and those maintained within the creating agencies.
Assist in drafting guidelines and policy documents.
Participate in the Electronic Records Working Group efforts to develop draft guidelines and policy documents that are compliant with statewide directions and that contribute to the discussion of policy guidelines.
Monitor electronic records management and digital preservation standards, guidelines, and best practices and make recommendations for incorporating those standards and practices into KDLA’s electronic records program.
Participate in the development and management of repository services, born-digital records ingest and access initiatives, and web archiving.
