As part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, the North Dakota State Archives collects, houses, and provides access to a wide range of current and historic North Dakota newspapers and is seeking a passionate and innovative archivist who will work to manage, preserve, and create access to this noteworthy newspaper collection.

Summary of Work
The Newspaper Archivist is responsible for the acquisition, preservation, arrangement, description, management, and access of the newspaper collections of the North Dakota State Archives, which includes newspapers in print, microfilm, and digital formats.

Duties and Tasks
Acquire, describe, and manage archival collections containing newspapers.
Ingest born digital files into the agency’s preservation system.
Digitize newspaper issues from print and microfilm formats.
Produce master negative microfilm and create service copies of microfilm rolls.
Assist with reference requests related to newspaper and periodical holdings and assist reference staff in locating information in collections for the public, government offices, and agency staff.
Provide technical expertise and collections care recommendations to organizations and the public.
Supervise interns and volunteers on projects relating to newspapers.
