Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Include instructions for how to apply.:
The Program Coordinator works in concert with the Special Collections at The Seattle Public Library (SPL) and the Seattle Black Spatial Histories Institute oral history program at Wa Na Wari (WNW-SBSHI). The Program Coordinator performs effective program management for the Digital Equity Project, providing support to and increased awareness of SPL-initiated outreach and programming, maintaining preservation copies of WNW-SBSHI produced oral histories, alongside relevant administrative documentation, permissions, recordings, transcriptions, and activations to ensure public-facing resources are accessible upon agreed upon intervals and in full upon project completion. The Program Coordinator reports to the Manager of Special Collections and communicates with project contacts as required.
The Digital Equity Project builds upon an existing relationship between the Library and Wa Na Wari to support the continuation and further development of their Seattle Black Spatial Histories Institute, which trains community members in the techniques and best practices of oral history and Black memory work. Project goals include: increasing representation of Black experiences in Seattle’s cultural and historical record; supporting ongoing community history work conducted by a Black-led organization; with an outcome of making Black oral history publicly accessible in ways that are ethical and accountable to the community.
