Under the supervision of the Filson’s Digital Archivist, the 2024 intern will process and describe at least one digitized audiovisual collection. The Filson’s underutilized AV collections include amateur motion picture films, family films and videos, political campaign TV ads, locally produced music, and oral histories. The supervisor will select a collection based on the specific media and/or research interests of the intern. Processing work includes identifying and assessing the content of the media, researching the creator/collector, writing a finding aid and metadata, and transcribing audio and/or compiling a shot list. The intern will also contribute to publicizing the collection by creating social media content and writing a newsletter column.

Successful interns will be able to learn new technology and processes, work independently, exercise judgement, write concisely, and integrate attention to detail with big-picture thinking. Familiarity with the Ohio River Valley region and United States 20th century history is beneficial.

For guaranteed consideration, apply by Friday, March 15th. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis after the deadline.
