The Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum (ACM) has a need to procure professional archival services for up to 1800 hours (approx. 11 months) to assist ACM Archivist with archival processing, preservation, and item-level cataloguing of content including photographs, documents, audiovisual materials. The scope of work includes archival preservation, arrangement, and description of collections according to professional and current archival standards, best practices, as well as ACM’s internal policies, procedures, guidelines, and established workflows. Processing work will include the production of high quality DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard) finding aids ready to be deployed on the Smithsonian’s Online Virtual Archives (SOVA).

The Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum (ACM) Archives comprise over 1,500 linear feet of materials, including around 50,000 photographs, audio and audiovisual recordings, personal papers, organizational records, and other collected materials. Holdings document the culture and daily life of Washington, DC, as well as African American history nationally. In support of the museum’s active collecting and research program, there is a continuous need to process collections, and create online findings aids and descriptive records.
