About Swallow Hill:
Founded in 1979, Swallow Hill Music is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) organization that strives to positively impact the quality of people’s lives through music. Swallow Hill operates a music school and three performance venues at its Broadway & Yale location, and produces outreach activities and community events throughout the Denver metro region as an SCFD-funded Tier II organization.
In addition to music therapy sessions, Swallow Hill’s flagship early education program “Little Swallows” is provided for students across the city. The organization is the producing partner for concerts at Denver Botanic Gardens, Four Mile Historic Park, the Butterfly Pavilion, the Clyfford Still Museum, and various music venues. Swallow Hill is a nationally-revered hub for concerts, classes, and community, and is a recipient of both the Mayor’s and the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, and an inductee of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and Folk Alliance International’s Business Lifetime Achievement awards.
Job Summary:
Swallow Hill Music is seeking an archivist intern to process materials in Swallow Hill’s archive collections. Swallow Hill’s history has created music promotional materials, correspondence, audio and video recordings, photographs, and other documents. The archivist intern will help organize, select, digitize, catalog, and process materials that will be housed onsite, both in storage and on display. The intern may also use archival and/or non-archival materials to plan and/or prepare storage space. This project is expected to take 100-120 hours total and the pay range is $25-30/hour depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
● Help identify and assess the archival value of materials
● Process the collection, including physical arrangement
● Inventory and describe materials
● Digitize some materials
● Create database records
● Create collection guides and other basic finding aids
● Drafting of a records retention policy and schedule for the historic records of the archive, utilizing recognized archival and records management practices
● Communicate with special collection staff

Education or Experience
● An undergraduate degree, or working towards a degree, in archival studies (or similar)
