The Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage is currently accepting proposals for contract work in archival audio conservation and digitization. The contractor will prepare approximately 422 ¼” open-reel audio tapes of blues recordings for digitization, digitize approximately 240 ¼” open-reel audio tapes, perform quality control on digitized assets, and ingest files into the Smithsonian Institution’s Digital Asset Management System. The complete project should take an estimated 360 hours, between October 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025.
