The United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary minority staff seeks a qualified committee archivist to compile, organize, and maintain the committee’s official records.

The Judiciary Committee is one of the original standing committees of the United States Senate, and is committed to ensuring that its records are professionally handled and preserved in conjunction with the Senate Historical Office and the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

The committee has one of the broadest jurisdictions and breadth of subject matter expertise in the Senate. As one of the most influential Senate committees and with eight subcommittees under its purview, the committee’s archivist will be required to examine a plethora of committee documents for preservation in both paper and digital form.

The qualified candidate will posses a Master of Library Science degree, have professional internship experience, and demonstrate a commitment to the archivist profession. Candidates will posses professional qualities inclusive of discretion, adaptability, good judgement, and be familiar with archival theory and concepts. The archivist must also maintain professional working relationships with committee staff and other members of the Capitol Hill archivist community.

Interested candidates are invited to apply to the committee with a cover letter and resume addressed to the attention of Nick Myers, Deputy Staff Director & Senior Counsel at nick_myers@judiciary-rep.senate.gov
