This is the opportunity of a lifetime for a highly skilled Exhibitions Creative Manager to serve as a leader in developing new large-scale exhibits for the State Historical Society of North Dakota including: an innovative North Dakota military gallery; a rethinking of the Pembina State Museum; and state-of-the-art updates to State Museum galleries.
Join a passionate team and promote North Dakota history. The Exhibitions Creative Manager, a newly created position within the Audience Engagement & Museum Department, oversees the effective concepting, design, writing, and execution of all exhibitions and installations at the State Museum and the Pembina State Museum. Reporting to the Audience Engagement & Museum Director, this manager also is responsible for theme development and first-draft writing of all agency exhibitions, in consultation with the Exhibitions Production Manager. This manager will develop a long-range exhibitions plan for the two museums with assistance from a cross-departmental team and the Exhibition Production Manager. Duties and Tasks
Serve as Exhibition Creative Manager for North Dakota’s State Museum’s and Pembina State Museum’s permanent, temporary, and digital exhibitions and interpretive projects, working with the Exhibitions Production Manager, cross-departmental teams, and outside stakeholders to support the agency’s mission. Also lead external outreach exhibitions projects.
Lead the development of a long-term exhibition plan for two state museums.
Develop all agency exhibition themes, write interpretive content, and collaborate with editors, marketing, and education teams for exhibition related publicity and education projects.
Oversee budgets, grant applications, and project timelines for exhibition completion, coordinating installations and artifact care at the agency’s two state museums.
Facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders, and supervise temporary exhibition staff as needed.
