This position supports online access to the collections in the custody of the Division of Archives and Records by scanning documents, creating descriptive metadata, and uploading materials into the North Carolina Digital Collections. This position also participates in digital projects and contributes to the development and maintenance of the division’s web and social media presence. The Digitization Archivist position works individually and in partnership with other staff member, interns, and volunteers on digitization projects for the division, including the coordination of branch interns’ work.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– Digitizes materials for the North Carolina Digital Collections.
– Indexes materials for the North Carolina Digital Collection using Library of Congress Subject Headings, Getty Research Institute’s Art & Architecture (AAT), and other national or local metadata standards.
– Uploads collections utilizing Quartex.
– Participates in division digital projects, including data cleanup projects within the digital collections and the archival cataloging database.
– Contributes to the development and maintenance of the division website, social media presence, and promotional materials.
– Oversees interns and intern project creation for the Digital Services Section. Serves on the Intern Committee for the division.
– Performing and coordinating multiple, concurrent work assignments.
