The Project Archivist is responsible for the arrangement, processing, and discoverability of the Philadelphia Folklore Project. Founded in 1987, the Philadelphia Folklore Project Collection documents the Philadelphia-area’s diverse folk arts and culture, in addition to the administrative record of the organization. The project archivist also develops and implements processing plans for collections of organization records and personal papers within the Urban Archives, including appraisal, preservation, and application of minimal processing for some series when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.

THIS IS A THREE-YEAR ENDOWMENT-FUNDED POSITION
THIS POSITION REQUIRES A BACKGROUND CHECK

Required Education and Experience:
* Master’s Degree with an archives management emphasis or concentration
* One year of professional experience processing complex, multi-series collections.
* Experience working with archival materials in a research setting.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated understanding of current archival theory and practice, including minimal processing.
*Knowledge of archival description standards and practices, including DACS, MARC, LCSH, Dublin Core, EAD.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Demonstrated project management skills.
*Ability to supervise student workers.
*Excellent customer services and interpersonal skill, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff

Preferred:
* Experience with ArchivesSpace
* Certification by the Academy of Certified Archivists

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
