Museum and Collector Resource, LLC (MCR), is seeking an Archivist for an 18-month, renewable position.
Position Summary:
MCR is seeking an Archivist to perform a wide variety of professional library and archival duties in support of a greater Cincinnati/northern KY institution. The incumbent will primarily manage the processing – arrangement, description and some digitization – for a private family archive while working as part of the MCR team. Other tasks will include data entry, processing a small number of artifacts, handling communications for the project and client relations. This individual will perform complex assignments requiring independent judgment and actions, working independently and at times with others. Team members include MCR staff and institutional employees. The ideal candidate will possess an interest in the history of science and or publishing, experience with museum work and an aptitude for database management with a high degree of attention to detail. The Archivist will serve as MCR’s representative on site for presentations and interactions with the client. This is a full-time, temporary position, for 18 months with the possibility of renewal. Most work will take place in the area of Fort Mitchell, KY. The candidate will need reliable transportation. 10 % of the work may be performed remotely. Opportunity for domestic travel to other states may also be available.
Salary: $60,000-$65,000 dependent on level of experience.

Responsibilities:
• Appraises, arranges and describes archival materials.
• Assists in setting up archival and artifact processing spaces.
• Creates finding aids.
• Rehouses collections.
• Enters data into the collections management database.
• Conducts quality control checks of data.
• Acts as the primary resource on archival issues for the project.
• Answers internal queries regarding the collections and the activities of the project.
• Digitizes archival documents and photographs and some 3-dimensional artifacts.
• Coordinates work with the client institution and other MCR staff.
• Writes reports.
• Moves library and archival materials and boxes in support of the project.
• Ensures that the work areas are clean and neat.
• Provides specifications for supply orders as needed.
• Tracks supply and equipment budgets.
• Conducts research.
• Makes order out of chaos in sometimes dusty and cluttered conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Master’s degree in library, archives or information science required.
• Previous archival experience required which can include an internship.
• Internship longer than 3 months full time preferred.
• 2+ years of library or archives experience preferred.
Skills/Abilities:

o Excellent computer skills including experience with Excel and at least one archival collections management system.

o Knowledge of Society of American Archivists best practices and industry standards.

o Experience digitizing and managing digital records of archival materials.
o Experience with multiple collections management database systems.
o Library experience cataloguing and classifying books.
o A desire to create order out of chaos.
o Aptitudes for logic and deciphering conundrums.
Physical Requirements:
• Position requires sufficient mobility and manual dexterity to safely handle, move, and care for museum collections within a warehouse storage environment and office setting.
• Must be able to navigate compact storage areas and occasionally work in constrained spaces.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds overhead, as necessary for artifact handling, storage, or installation tasks.
