Baker Library Department: Special Collections and Archives
Position title: Archives and Records Management Assistant (Temp/LHT)
Salary: $18 per hour, non-negotiable. (This position is part-time; no benefits.)
Location: 100% on-site; Allston, MA
Schedule: 14 hours per week. Flexible, but must be Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm.

About Us
Harvard Business School, Special Collections and Archives, collects and makes available records of business dating from the 14th century. The HBS Archives, mandated by Harvard University, contain records that document the history of Harvard Business School, faculty, research, teaching, and the student experience from the school’s establishment in 1908 to present day.
About The Role
Under general supervision, the Archives and Records Management Assistant will have primary responsibility for completing box inventories, labels, and barcodes for archives collection material. The Archives and Records Management Assistant ensures baseline administrative and physical control and intellectual access for legacy acquisitions and establishes the infrastructure upon which future archival work will be built.
Basic Requirements
• BA/BS or equivalent.
• Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills, including legible handwriting.
• Excellent organizational skills, including accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
• Current enrollment in an ALA-accredited Master’s program; archives coursework is a plus.
• Familiarity with basic preservation of archival materials, including proper handling, housing, and storage.
• Previous experience working with potentially sensitive and/or confidential records and information.
Work Environment
• Indoor office setting.
• Frequent use of office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time; remain stationary for extended periods; push, pull, and bend as necessary.
