The Digitization Specialist will join the digitization team and contribute to the imaging activities of the Amblin Hearth Archive. The role will be involved with every stage of the digitization workflow, including capture, processing, quality control, and delivery. Some local travel between facilities will occasionally be required. This is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Digital Studio Manager.
This position will include, but will not be limited to, the following tasks:
• Follow best practices and technical guidelines for the digitization of cultural heritage materials.
• Use multiple types of digital imaging equipment and related imaging software to image a wide variety of materials including photographic prints, slides, and negatives, works on paper, ephemera, documents, and 3D objects.
• Quality control files created to make sure they conform to imaging standards.
• Fulfill digital image requests, including digitizing assets on demand if necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Key Skills Required
• Two years of experience, preferably in a library or cultural heritage setting.
• Knowledge of current technical guidelines for digitizing cultural heritage materials.
• Technical competence and willingness to learn and grow in technical understanding.
• High level of professionalism with the capacity to maintain confidentiality.
• Comfort in working both independently and as part of a team.
• Exacting attention to detail, while maintaining a high level of productivity.
• Flexibility and willingness to change focus when directed.
