Position Summary:
The Special Materials Catalog Librarian will report to the Head of the Cataloging and Metadata Services Team and will be responsible for original and complex copy cataloging of materials including maps, graphical materials and special format resources of all types in a variety of languages and subjects. May also catalog textual print materials in foreign languages. Creates name authority records for the LC/NACO national authority file, as needed. Participates in the problem solving and policy making activities of the Cataloging and Metadata Services unit; serves as a resource person for library staff on rules and best practices for special materials cataloging; works with the Head of Cataloging and Metadata Services to develop local cataloging policies and procedures for special materials; shares with library colleagues relevant information gained from professional activities and uses that knowledge to improve unit operations; monitors cataloging trends and maintains awareness of emerging issues in bibliographic control; participates in library committees, task groups, and special projects, particularly those related to cataloging, metadata, and bibliographic control. The successful candidate must be broadly focused and adventurous enough to expand or shift their range of responsibilities to meet evolving campus needs as well as participate approximately quarter-time in a secondary assignment based on the needs of the library and interests and qualifications of the librarian. Wilmington, DE: Project Archivist, Hagley Museum & Library

Hagley is seeking a full-time project archivist for a two-year effort to process the audiovisual materials in its David Sarnoff Collection.

The position is part of a three-year grant-funded project to make fully accessible to researchers the David Sarnoff Collection, the extraordinary and comprehensive 2,800-linear-foot archive of materials documenting the business dealings of David Sarnoff, pioneer of the media and electronics age. The history of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) and the founding of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) are recorded in the collection’s manuscripts, reports, notebooks, publications, photographs, moving images, and sound recordings. RCA’s research & development activities as well as the emerging American consumer culture are also recorded here. They vastly enlarge RCA-related collections already at Hagley.
