Processing Archivist
The American Jewish Archives, a division of Hebrew Union College, seeks a detail-oriented individual for the position of part-time Processing Archivist with the possibility of full-time status depending on performance and funding availability.
Responsibilities:
The Processing Archivist will be responsible for arranging and describing manuscript materials, preparing EAD finding aids, and cataloging collections using archival standards. In addition, this individual may be asked to pull and refile materials, respond to reference questions, and assist in other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a high level of comfort with Microsoft Office, willingness to work with the AJA’s staff as needed, and the ability to handle information with discretion. The applicant must have a Master’s degree in Library Science and a minimum of one (1) year of archival processing experience with experience processing multi-format collections including electronic, audiovisual and photographic materials preferred. The applicant must be able to handle archival boxes weighing up to 30 pounds and push archival carts. Basic knowledge of American history, American Jewish history specifically, is also preferred.
