Atlanta, GA: Archivist (term), History Associates

History Associates has an opening for one full-time temporary archivist in Atlanta, Georgia. The position is expected to run for approximately 5 months following the start date. The position is full-time 40 hours per week.

History Associates is a professional historical services firm providing customized historical, archival, digital archives, records management, museum and exhibit services to industry, the professions, government, and non-profit organizations for over thirty years.

Job Description:
Working under the supervision of an off-site Project Manager and within strict deadlines, the archivist will process and catalog 37 LF of unprocessed Resource Management Records of the Martin Luther King National Historic Site (National Park Service).  The project will also include the integration of previously processed material into a single collection.  The archivist will implement a pre-established processing plan in accordance with project guidelines. Work is scheduled to start in late September.

Education Requirements:
Master’s degree in library science, history, or related discipline with a concentration in archival studies or archival courses, seminars, internships, or practica.

Job Requirements:
–       Minimum one year of experience arranging and describing archival records
–       Proven examples of working under strict deadlines
–       Understanding of and experience in implementing archival hierarchies
–       Demonstrated practical knowledge of archival policies and procedures
–       Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgment
–       Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others
–       Strong writing and verbal communication skills
