Job Summary

The archivist will be assigned to one of four portfolios on a rotating
basis: (a) reference and outreach services, (b) civic government
archives, (c) community archives, and d) special media and exhibition
services.

Reporting to the City Archivist, the Archivist works as a member of a
team of professionals responsible for the analysis, appraisal,
selection, acquisition, organization, housing, description, care,
preservation and provision of public access to archival records
acquired from the Corporation, the community, and its Citizens.

The Archivist will research and develop the Institutional
Documentation Plan and the Community Documentation Plan to support the
identification, acquisition, transfer, and preservation of documents
in various formats and media, and to facilitate the research
activities of researchers and Citizens. The Archivist will also
contribute to the development of archival/records management policies,
procedures, standards and records retention and disposition schedules,
and will manage the delivery of reference/resource services to elected
officials, city management and staff, and external users. The
Archivist will participate in outreach activities and consultations
with the public, as subject matter experts, and write articles for
magazines and journals, and contribute to the development of branch
plans and budgets.

Education & Experience

Master’s degree in archival science with five (5) years related
experience or a four (4) year undergraduate degree in a related field
with eight (8) years related experience.
