Digital Asset Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Archivist and working collaboratively with staff across the Symphony, the Digital Asset Coordinator will develop sustainable practices and processes to ensure the availability and integrity of digital assets that chronicle the Symphony’s history, collections, programs, and operations. The successful applicant will demonstrate experience with a variety of technologies related to digital preservation and the management of digital content in multiple formats, and will keep abreast of new technical information and developments relating to the life cycle of digital objects. The work schedule for the position is 30 hours per week and includes benefits. Job responsibilities include:
• Work with departments to develop sustainable practices for the digital asset lifecycle and assist in planning and managing growth of asset collections;
• Develop institution-wide standards, procedures, workflows, and policies for managing digital assets;
• Develop and implement processes for ingestion, metadata description, and object imaging;
• Ingest, organize, describe, and disseminate digital images, video, and audio assets;
• Manage on-going digitization of archival material for reproduction and reference purposes and assist in the planning and implementation of new digitization projects;
• In close partnership with Information Technology, plan system customizations, upgrades, integrations, testing, and maintenance;
• Assist with projects to identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate hardware and software for digital preservation and digitization;
• Assist in infrastructure development, planning and support for long-term access to the digital collections;
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Two or more years of practical experience with digitization projects, the management of digital assets, digital asset management systems, and the workflow and procedures associated with managing digital assets;
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree in library and information science, archive management, museum studies, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Demonstrated experience in database management, media cataloging, digital preservation, digital rights management, and data migration;
• Knowledge of digital asset lifecycle including: capture, formats and codecs, metadata, color management, file conversion, and dissemination;
• Strong computer skills: Windows, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, FileMaker Pro, Inmagic, familiarity with HTML, XML, and FTP software. Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and MS SQL a plus;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Basic knowledge and interest in classical music;
• Ability to work well with diverse personalities;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Ability to lift and shift boxes weighing up to 15 lbs.
