Position Description

Performs specialized, complex work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. Work is performed under supervision within established guidelines with performance based on overall results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions

– Work with Unit Coordinator to implement and oversee the digital migration of analog audio and video legacy materials.
– Handle all digitization requests for audio/video (A/V) materials from patrons and donors.
– Help maintain A/V holdings by processing collections and creating finding aids/inventories.
– In conjunction with Unit Coordinator, identify AV materials in most need of digital preservation.
– Continuing education into best practices and standards for audio and video digitization.

Required Qualifications

High school plus five years experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

– Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Library Science, Museum Science, History, or an Associates of Applied Science degree in audio or video technologies.
– Experience working in a special collections library, museum, or general library setting.
– Experience handling, processing, and digitizing archival materials.
– Relevant knowledge and experience with audio and video archival materials, including best practices, standards, and current trends in preservation and digitization.
– Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students, exceptional organizational skills, be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and attentive to details.
– Experience with archival metadata schema and Encoded Archival Description (EAD).
– Experience working with Adobe software programs (especially Premiere and Audition).
– Familiarity with audio/video copyright issues. Interest in Texas and music history.
