Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Chicago History Museum invites applications for a one-year project cataloger working on an IMLS-funded retroconversion project. The museum seeks a detail-oriented individual to assist with the second phase of converting approximately 6,500 small manuscript collection records from the card catalog to digital collection records.

The cataloger will be responsible for quality control of the raw data collected in the first phase of the grant; will administer authority control; convert non-MARC catalog record content to MARC format; apply subject headings; upload records to ILS (Horizon), as well as WorldCat and EXPLORE Chicago Collections.

This is a great opportunity for someone with some cataloging experience to hone their metadata and technical skills. The collection is a rich amalgamation of American and Chicago history, with particular emphasis on westward expansion, Native American relations, the Civil War, and early Chicago business and personal history, but with over 6,500 records there truly is something for everyone.

Benefits are included and the project cataloger will work the same hours as the rest of the Research and Access department (Tuesdays through Saturdays from September through May, and Mondays through Fridays from June through August).

Apply for Research and Access Cataloger using the link below:

This position is grant-funded and the salary is non-negotiable. Pay is $41,860 annually plus benefits.
