Northern State University invites applications for a Librarian/Archivist. This is a full-time, 11-month position. Qualifications: * An ALA-accredited M.L.S. or MLIS * Extensive knowledge of online and print information resources * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Ability to arrange and describe manuscript collections * Ability to work both collaboratively and independently Preferred: * Second masters’ degree * Classroom and online instruction experience * Academic library reference experience * Knowledge of and experience with current technology Responsibilities: * Lead research and resource use instruction sessions. This will include assistance to on-campus and distance students through the development of online tools and tutorials. * Provide high quality, student-oriented reference services in person and via electronic communication. * Process manuscript collections and make them available to interested researchers. The Reference Librarian/Archivist will be one of the three librarians reporting to the Director of Libraries. This position will serve as a departmental liaison while providing reference service and participating as part of Williams Library’s on-campus and online instruction team. This position will be responsible for arranging and describing print manuscript collections, providing assistance to researchers, and participating in the digitalization of images and documents. Communication skills, self-motivation, and collegial attitude toward colleagues within the library and on the NSU campus are essential. The Beulah Williams Library is a Carnegie MA I, multi-purpose regional, state-supported institution offering associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees.
