Records and Information Management Internship
Location: Philadelphia, PA
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is the sixth-largest public transportation system in the country. The system’s buses, trains, trolleys, and paratransit vehicles carry more than 750,000 passengers over 2,200 square miles on a weekly basis.
The Authority’s Records and Information Management program is seeking a summer intern to assist with archives and records management projects in the Center City Philadelphia headquarters.
Projects will include:
• Process a collection of approximately 100 boxes of confidential business records, including file-level scanning and indexing.
• Scan and arrange a collection of annual reports from the Authority and its predecessors.
• Appraise a defined set of archived materials for records with intrinsic or historic value.
• Assist on day-to-day tasks as needed, including records requests, data entry, file destruction, and site visits.
The 10-week paid internship will start on June 4 and end on August 10. Interns must be available to work a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) for the 10-week period.
Compensation will be $12.00-$16.00 per hour, depending on the position’s grade level and area of specialty. Interns also receive free transportation passes for the duration of their assignment.
Candidates should be pursuing undergraduate or graduate level coursework in library and information science with specializations in archives and/or records management. An interest in information technology is a plus.
