Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Archives of American Art is seeking a full-time independent contractor to submit a proposal for a 2,200 hour project to process manuscript collections.
This project specifically targets the processing of collections that include a significant number of analog audiovisual media formats such as sound reels and cassettes, videocassettes, videoreels, and motion picture film. These mixed-format collections may also include letters, diaries, scrapbooks, writings, project files, sales records, photographs, sketches and sketchbooks, exhibition catalogs and posters, and born-digital materials documenting the history of the visual arts in the United States.
The contractor is expected to complete archival processing work according to professional and current archival standards and best practices. Processing work is defined as organizing, arranging, sorting, identifying, preserving, and describing archival collections. The contractor is expected to complete the work with a high degree of independence after initial consultation about the level of processing, arrangement, preservation, and description that will be completed for each individual collection.
