Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Please include instructions for how to apply.: Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Archives and Library Assistant. The individual in this position will be accountable for:
• Assisting the library and archives staff to support the smooth operation of the library and archives
• Assisting the Archivist with digitization and other archival projects
• Assisting the Archivist with alumni outreach
• Supervising students using the library and offering support and guidance, as needed
• Supervising on-duty student employees
• Conducting both formal and informal reference interviews with students and faculty
• Coordinating archival displays in collaboration with the archivist
Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work collaboratively and independently, archives and reference skills or coursework, enjoy reading and working with adolescent girls, and have comfort supervising teens.
Facility with digital content and software, metadata, databases, DAMS, library systems, and work experience in a school, archives, or library environment is preferred. Other requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Apps, as well as experience using both PC and Apple technology, and with social media applications. Candidates must be able to remain seated for extended periods of time, as well as lift and move product up to 60 lbs.
Successful candidates will be creative, curious and detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication and accurate record-keeping skills. They should have a strong work ethic and an ability to work effectively and multi-task in an active environment. Candidates should be comfortable with rapidly changing technologies and have experience providing library and or archives services to people of all ages.
This a part-time position during the academic year from late August through June. The Library Archives Assistant will work 7.5 hours per week on Thursday evenings from 1:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. with a 45-minute break. Several additional shifts for professional development, training, coverage, school events and holidays are anticipated. The Library Archives Assistant reports to the Library Director.
