Intern Level: Must be currently enrolled in an American Librarian Association (ALA) Master’s degree program. Must provide an acceptance letter from the dean. Must provide an official transcript indicating applicant has taken (or is currently taking) Master of Library Science or related program courses or registration document indicating applicant is enrolled for the current term. Must be able to work weekends and nights.

Trainee Level: Must be currently enrolled in an American Library Association
(ALA) accredited graduate school Master’s degree program in Library Science or related program and have completed at least 18 semester credits in Library Science or related program. Must be able to work weekends and nights.

Librarian Level: Master’s degree in Library Science or related program from an
American Library Association (ALA) accredited graduate school. Must be able to work weekends and nights.

Recruitment Notes: Special Collections & Archives is a growing department that works with rare and historic materials related to the histories of Florida and Cuba, and South Florida visual and performing art. Its collections include the 16mm Film Collection, Helen Muir Florida Collection, Cuban Rare Books and Ephemera, The Vasari Project, Genealogy, and the MDPLS Rare and Antiquarian Book Collection. Work within the department is related to digital curation, exhibition development, genealogy research, historical investigation, archival processing, and library collections development. The ideal candidate is driven, curious, and interested in helping preserve, maintain, and grow community support and engagement with the public library. Experience in preservation and handling of cultural heritage materials, reference, cataloging, managerial experience, and curatorial work with strong attention to detail is sought and highly desired in this position
